If you accidentally sent a message to someone, then you have the ability to delete it using Instagram unsend feature.
Follow these steps and you will figure out how you can do it:
1. Log in to your Instagram account and go to the home tab.
2. Press on the paper airplane icon in the upper-right corner of the screen.
3. Once the direct messages section opens, hit one of the conversations in order to open it.
4. After that click and hold the message you would like to delete.
5. Choose the Unsend Message option from the pop-up menu.
