VP330 v VC340 quick comparison of sounds
I got a Roland VP330 in for repair so I took the opportunity to do a sound comparison of the ensemble on strings and human voice with the smaller Behringer VC340 (off camera on my casper stand ) using the same settings on each instrument. The VP330 uses one SAD1024 (for vibrato not used in this video)and four SAD512D analog delay chips which are almost unobtainable today and the VC340 looks like it has four MN3207 analog delay chips. Some of the sounds are very similar but the VP330 I think has a smoother and more subtle ensemble chorus. Sometimes I play the wrong octave at first because of the different keyboard lengths - 4 octaves vs 3 octaves and an octave high low switch on the VC340. The more affordable Roland RS09 first version uses a similar 4 x SAD512D ensemble but uses an LFO to modulate the master clock frequency for vibrato as can be seen in my video here. Just make music with stuff, details are irrelevant to most ears.
