In this video, Dr. Renato Barra explains the importance and functionality of a spinal MRI.

This imaging test, which uses a magnetic field, is essential for a detailed evaluation of the structures of the spine, including bones, spinal discs, nerves, and soft tissues.

A spinal MRI is indicated for diagnosing various conditions, such as herniated discs, spinal compression, fractures, infections, degenerative changes, and even spinal tumors.

Dr. Renato also explains that the exam lasts an average of 15 minutes and generally does not require the use of contrast, except in specific cases, such as the evaluation of tumors or infections.

For an MRI, it is important to follow the guidelines, such as removing metal objects from the body. In cases that require contrast, it is necessary to fast for a few hours before the exam.
