and today I want to share with you some useful information about what exactly is prohibited in Germany and what you can get a fine for.
Traffic violations. It is difficult to surprise anyone here, since such rules of order exist in every country, but in Germany, there are still a couple of nuances.
Speeding: fines range from 30 to 680 euros depending on the degree of excess and the place (for example, in the city or on the motorway).
Drunk driving: fines can reach several thousand euros, plus possible deprivation of driving license and imprisonment.
Using a mobile phone while driving: the fine is about 100 euros and penalty points are added to the driver's register.
There is also a whole article of fines for using autobahns, since additional rules apply to them. I want to make a separate video about this, but for now I will just say that driving on the Autobahn has its own peculiarity and you can get a fine there even for running out of gas in your car. The fine for running out of gas on the Autobahn in Germany is 80 euros
You can get a fine for illegal parking Parking:
Illegal parking: fines range from 10 to 70 euros depending on the place and duration of parking.
Parking in disabled spaces without permission: the fine is about 55 euros.
a parking space occupied without permission - 10 euros;
parking on a highway or motorway - 70 euros;
violation of the ban on stopping - 10-70 euros;
blocking a fire lane from 35 euros and 1 penalty point.
You can also get a fine for parking without a parking washer, if you do not notice the warning sign about the permitted time in the parking lot. As a rule, this time is 1.5-2 hours, but provided that you have indicated on the parking washer what time you left the car. The washer should be inside the car, near the steering wheel or in any convenient place on the panel.
Also, for improper use of electric scooters in Germany, you can get a fine.
no working horn or lighting - 15-20 euros;
riding in the wrong place, for example, on the sidewalk - 20 euros, and if this creates an obstacle for other road users or damages property - 20-30 euros;
riding two people on one electric scooter, as well as riding without holding the steering wheel - 10 euros.
Travel without a ticket
If you are caught without a valid ticket, the inspector will issue a fine on the spot. Since 2024, the standard fine for traveling without a ticket in Germany is 60 euros, but this amount can vary depending on the city and transport authority.
Violations of residence and immigration laws:
Living without the appropriate visa or residence permit: fines can range from 500 to several thousand euros.
Illegal employment: fines can reach several thousand euros for both the employer and the employee.
Violations in the field of trade and business:
Selling alcohol to minors: fines can reach several thousand euros.
Violations of labor laws (e.g. violation of the minimum wage or working conditions): fines can reach tens of thousands of euros.
In Germany, there are sometimes fines that may seem ridiculous or strange, but they are aimed at maintaining public order, cleanliness and respect for neighbors and the environment.
Here are some examples of such fines:
1. Fine for an empty bottle up to 30 euros for polluting the environment.
2. Fine for slamming doors up to 50 euros for disturbing the peace and order.
3. Fine for listening to music too loudly up to 500 euros, especially if it happens in a residential area after 22:00.
4. Fine for not having a T-shirt while driving
5. Fine for feeding pigeons up to 100 euros.
6. Fine for washing a car on the street up to 100 euros.
7. Fine for taking out the trash at the wrong time up to 50 euros.
8. Fine for polluting the environment: for example, throwing trash in the wrong place, fines can be from 10 to 500 euros.
In addition, you can get huge fines for such ridiculous situations as killing a bee, grilling on the balcony or leaving sneakers at your door in the entrance.
