A router (/ˈraʊtər/, also /-ə/) is a hand tool or power tool that a worker uses to rout (hollow out) an area in relatively hard material like wood or plastic. Routers are mainly used in woodworking, especially cabinetry.
Can you connect to the Internet without a router:
Wireless Router (in-built Modem) has to be set manually using the settings provided by the ISP. And to answer your question; yes you cannot connect to your internet without a modem or an ADSL wireless router. Laptops may still have built-in DIAL-UP modems but not broadband.
