Robust and Durable Immune Response: Virus-Like Particle Vaccines
A virus-like particle, or VLP, is a type of vaccine that engages the immune system in a manner that closely resembles interactions with actual viruses. A VLP mimics the structure of a virus, but is not infectious and hence not able to cause disease. Scientists at AstraZeneca are exploring the potential of a VLP vaccine platform to prompt a stronger immune response, greater breadth of protection and longer durability compared to non-VLP vaccines.
