Mega Man Legends was really surprising to me. Every time I saw gameplay it looked dated and way outside the bounds of what I expected Mega Man games to be. Where was Dr. Light? Who is this cute little monkey Data? What are servbots? I had no idea what was really going on, but the more I played it the more I realized something really interesting.
This entire game plays like an episode of an anime from the late 80s/early 90s. The voice acting, the sound effects, the story, the characters and dialogue: It all belongs in an anime. Even the art design, which was quite deliberate has aged rather well given its unique aesthetic! As I began to realize this about the game, I recognized how much fun I was having, and its become emblematic of games of the era.
Even diehard fans of the NES Mega Man games like me need to try it out! Why isn't there a Mega Man Legends Remake yet, or even Mega Man Legends 3? Come on Capcom help us out!
