Magnetic flow meters (MAG flow meters) are volumetric flow meters that operate without any moving parts and are ideal for potable water and wastewater applications as well as ideal for any conductive or water based clean or dirty fluid. Magnetic flow meters will generally not work with hydrocarbons, distilled water, and many non-aqueous solutions as they require a conductive fluid of 5 microSiemens/cm minimum.
Example TX/RX for command 4x4112 on Slave ID 1 where the 01 is the slave ID and the 03 is the Function Code and the next 2 is the Protocol Address of 10 15, which is the PLC Address (Base 1) that means to call 4118, or 4117 if you do not want to do the PLC (Base 1) routine. The rest is the CRC.
000000-Tx:01 03 10 15 00 02 D1 0F
000001-Rx:01 03 04 00 00 44 AA 49 4C
The RX is 01 for Slave ID = 1, 03 for Function code, and the 04 is for 4 bytes and the 00 00 44 AA represents the
Float CDAB for 1360. This is the CDAB 0x44aa0000 Note we put C and D in front and A and B in the back...
Use the tool here: https://www.h-schmidt.net/FloatConver... and put your CDAB in the lower part named "Hexadecimal Representation" and hit enter.
FAQ:
What units are the Flow Rate and Total for the ModBUS Registers? Does it FOLLOW the units selected on the display or are they LOCKED to m3/m for rate and M3 for total?
..Yes, the ModBUS FOLLOWS the units selected on the display. Some folks LOVE this and others do not.
What is the price of the battery for the Battery Powered MAG Meter?
.. The best offer for the battery is $250
Does a 12" Battery Powered MAG Meter last 24 months like a 2" MAG Meter?
.. The best estimate is 18 months to 24 months for a 12" Battery Powered MAG Meter, the same as a 2" meter, the meter size does not impact battery life.
Can the Battery Powered MAG Meter come with ONLY ModBUS RTU so that it can last longer battery life?
.. YES.. ModBUS RTU, it is the best way for the Battery Powered MAG Meter to save power. For example, like your cellphone, if you use it every minute, it will run out of power soon.
If you use it a time in a day, it can last longer.
If you want ModBUS RTU, try to reduce the times that you communicate the Meter with your device in a day.
To INCREASE Battery life you may provide 3.6 VDC to the ModBUS RTU signal so that the Master provides energy for the ModBUS RTU signals. This is noted on the ModBUS RTU enclosure.
