Perfect Loop - Towards Order (Creative coding with Processing)
This abstract art video is about the progress from disorder towards order where everything is interconnected and nothing can be separated, culminating in a state of absolute balance and order.
The video is made with an algorithm in Processing. The algorithm is built with simple trigonometric functions that are controlled by several parameters that begin with large numbers and eventually align with each other to achieve a coherent shape that is in constant and seamless motion - A perfect loop. (The radial gradient is made in Adobe Premiere.)
The video is part of my exploration on the property of "Not-Separateness" which Christopher Alexander writes about in "The Nature of Order - Fifteen Fundamental Properties". It is actually an architectural concept that emphasizes on "connectedness" or being at one with the context without giving up its character. More over, not-separateness is based on recursive rules, for example, from small to large and applies to its form and function and environment. Algorithmic art is quite suitable to investigate and visualize this state of not-separateness.
