This video explains 3 different connectivity modes.
1.Import---Copying data from data source to SQL Server to power bi model
Advantages:
Better performence bcz of data is already copied into power bi model
This Mode will support to connect all datasource
All Features in Power Bi desktop are enabled and can use for development
DisAdvantages:
data inisde report may not be updated data, you need to wait until next schedule of data refresh
Needs lot of Memory and resources to store and process data
2.Direct Query
Advantages:
Live data will be available, no need to wait for any schedule
No need of resources to store or processing data
Disadvantages:
Performence is less bcz every time vizual bringing data from datasource
Only few datasources supporting Direct Query Mode..
But some of development features are not supporting....
3.Live Connection----SSAS
Live Connection will support only for SSAS Tabular and Multidimension , power Bi datasets datasources
How to choose which connectivity mode is fit for project

VOLUME OF DATA--- LESS VOLUME PREFER IMPORT
HUGE VOLUME OF DATA USE DIRECTQUERY MODE
WHETER DATA IN SOURCE CHANGED FREQUENTLY OR NOT---
IT IS NOT CHANGING FREQUENTLY--IMPORT
DATA CHANGING FREQUENTLY USE-- DIRECT QUERY
