Stripped threads on a cylinder head are a nightmare but they don't mean a trip to the machine shop. In this video, I walk through how to drill, tap, and install a thread repair insert on a stripped bolt hole on the cylinder head of my 1983 Honda CB1100F motorcycle, saving the head and keeping the build moving forward. This is a must-know skill for anyone wrenching on vintage bikes where decades of over-torquing and corrosion have taken their toll on aluminum threads.

What's covered:
Assessing the damage and choosing the right repair insert
Drilling out the stripped hole to the correct size
Tapping new threads for the insert
Installing and setting the thread repair insert
Final fit check

🔧 Tools & supplies used:
Thread repair kit (Heli-Coil equivalent)
Drill and correct drill bit size
Tap and tap handle
Thread insert installation tool
