The Brisbane Olympic Stadium is 100 Days Away
In this episode of Talking Tactics, we dive into the exciting changes following David Crisafulli’s election as the new Premier of Queensland. Crisafulli has already promised a major 100-day review of Brisbane’s Olympic venue infrastructure, which could bring some much-needed clarity—and possibly new direction—to the preparations for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games.
With the QSAC (Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre) plan facing all but scrapped, Crisafulli's review will likely focus on three alternative options for Brisbane’s main Olympic stadium:
The Gabba Redevelopment – a proposed upgrade to Brisbane's iconic stadium to meet Olympic standards.
Victoria Park Stadium – a fresh stadium proposal in the heart of the city with a higher price tag but big potential.
Northshore Hamilton Stadium – a new stadium concept located along the river, aiming to add a unique waterfront experience to the Olympic Games.
David Crisafulli said during the election campaign that there will be "no new stadiums" built for the Olympics. Does that rule out Vic Park and Northshore Hamilton, leaving only The Gabba option on the table? There was a lot of criticism of that plan initially - will we be going back to that?
