Drum Notation Examples, Inc Stem Directions and Options | Discover Dorico
In this session we looked at various different drum notation examples, how you might input them in Dorico and what many of the options are regarding stem direction, staff position and multiple rhythms/voices (or not) on the same staff.
We also had a look at a couple of little new things coming up such as suggestions in popovers, system dividers and winged barlines.
2:45 - session start - start new basic drum set player (notation example 1)
3:30 - navigate with up and down arrows and 'Y' to enter a 'default' pitch at the caret location
4:00 - tuplets in drum kits
4:15 - looking at how the kit is set up and changing stem directions
4:40 - checking the note input preferences (for inputting notes with a MIDI keyboard)
9:00 - notation example 2 (adding second drum kit)
10:50 - create swing tuplet feel notification (eighths = swing eights) - also see Metrico font
11:40 - Notation Options for using 'single voice' instead of stem direction rules, and 'truncate to shortest duration' to remove tied notes.
13:20 - notation example 3
13:40 - using Layout Options to change the drum kit display to single line instruments (or drum grid)
16:25 - adding an additional snare (for one stem up and one stem down)
21:45 - notation example 4 (inc ghost notes in one voice)
Other items:
28:15 - shortcuts for soloing instruments in the mixer, system dividers and winged barlines
31:00 - new tokens for date and other new items
