Unlocking a hidden gem in Bitwig: Parameter lock sequences with Parseq 8.
Hey everyone, it's been a little while, but I'm excited to dive back in with some creative sound design. In this video, we'll explore one of Bitwig Studio's more underutilized yet incredibly powerful tools: the Parseq 8 modulator. What makes it so special is its ability to perform 'parameter locking' style modulation on a per-step basis, similar to the motion sequencing found on some hardware synthesizers. This allows you to assign unique modulation targets to each individual step, opening up a world of complex, evolving patterns that are difficult to achieve otherwise. I'll show you my process for setting one up, and then we'll get more advanced by chaining multiple instances of Parsec 8 together to break out of simple loops and generate some truly dynamic textures on both synths and effects. This is a really fun technique for anyone looking to add more intricate movement and detail to their sound.
