Can you still use Windows 7 in 2026?
Windows 7 was, upon its release in 2009, regarded as one of the greatest versions of Windows made to date by many. While I have seen quite a few folks say it wasn't as such (compared to OSes like XP, Vista and 8.1), there IS a general consensus that Microslop hasn't made anything that has truly satisfied the general public since Windows 7's days. But how usable is it in 2026?
So, I've done these kinds of videos involving Windows 7 starting in 2023, and this year I've already looked at Windows 98, 2000, XP and Vista, and so now finally its Windows 7's turn. Released after around two years of development, it adjusts a lot of the new features from Windows Vista, while debloating it significantly by spinning off applications like Mail, Movie Maker and Photo Gallery into Windows Live, and discontinuing others, such as Windows Meeting Space. (*Do note that in 2010, Microsoft Lync was introduced which served effectively the same purpose and eventually morphed into the trash pile now called Microslop Teams). It was received overall positively by the press, and quickly became one of the best selling products of the time, not just in the tech world. It was superseded by Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 in 2012, 2013 and 2015, with Windows 7's mainstream support ending in the same year Windows 10 was originally released, and lost its dominant marketshare to Windows 10 in 2018. Extended support ended in 2020, and the fact that was 6 years ago makes me feel elderly.
Anyways, I hope you enjoy this video. I arguably put a significant amount of work into this video.
