Version/date: 1.2 (11 August 2025)
"Mega Man X2: Proto Edition, as the name suggests, is a hack that basically puts Proto Man in the role of the protagonist, replacing Mega Man.
This had already been done for Mega Man X and X3, and now Proto Man takes the lead in X2.
In addition to swapping the main character, the hack features changes to his shots, new dialogue, and new colors for the special weapons.
It’s a simple hack, but it gives you the chance to replay the game with a fresh new character. This is the latest version, and now Proto Man has his scarf and shield."
