The phenomenon of cavitation (collapse of steam bubbles) occurs when liquid passes from an area of high pressure (large diameter) to an area of low pressure (smaller diameter pipeline). Steam bubbles are formed, which collapse when passing into an area of high pressure again (larger diameter pipeline) and destroy the pipeline from the inside.
