In 1772 foreign povers partitioned the territory of Poland into three parts. This ended up pushing the country into two centuries of opression, but also started a chain of events, that led to the country becoming the biggest consumer of yerba mate in Europe.
In this video, I tell you the fascinating history of how this strange South American herb found its way to Poland through emigration, and how the country adopted yerba mate, ultimately becaming the unofficial yerba mate-capital of Europe.
