Share and Use Google Docs in Remote Classrooms
Google Docs provide a multifaceted tool in online / remote education. In addition to creating one Google Doc for each student to use as her/his “journal” on which to place in-class assignments and homework, I create one Google Doc for the entire class on which daily notes are shared and reviewed. Students have one or two activities on the Doc within the synchronous Zoom sessions where they are asked to share ideas they had shared in breakout rooms. Google Docs raise the level of accountability for students, and instructors have exponentially more opportunities to provide feedback to students. Finally, going paperless with Google Docs targets multiple United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030 such as Goal 4 (Equal Access to Education) and Goal 13 (Climate Action). #asuonline #remotelearning #onlineteaching #googleclassroom #google
