Historically during the July Crisis, the Ottoman Empire attempted to make an alliance with France and Britain but were rejected. Then they tried with Germany and were initially rejected again. I will cover this later, don’t worry. At this point, the Ottoman Empire declared neutrality in this crisis as they couldn’t find any allies.
So, what if the Ottoman Empire remained neutral in the Great War, seizing the Caucasus from Russia in 1918 like historically during their civil war, but also getting to keep these territories this time around.
As such, Operation Barbarossa may become a success had the Ottomans remained neutral in the Great War and joined the Axis, so let me explore this crazy idea in detail, and most importantly, would Germany win the Second World War in this alternate universe? Let me show you what I came up with!
