Title: Full-parallax 3D display using time-multiplexing projection technology (SD&A-100)

Abstract: We enhanced the characteristics of three-dimensional (3D) images using time-division multiplexing methods in full-parallax multi-view 3D display, referred to as “Aktina Vision.” We proposed a time-division light-ray shifting (TDLS) method that uses two polarization gratings (PGs). As PGs change the diffraction direction of the light rays corresponding to the polarization state of the incident light, this method can shift light rays more than 6 mm by switching the polarization state of the incident light and adjusting the distance between the PGs. We verified the effect on the characteristics of 3D images in the case of doubling the number of viewpoints using the TDLS method, and the number of pixels of each viewpoint image with wobbling technology. The proposed method can effectively enhance 3D image quality with few projectors.

Biography: Takuya Omura recieved the B.E. and M.E. degrees in mechanical engineering from Keio University, Japan, in 2016 and 2018, respectively. In 2018, he joined Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK), Tokyo. Since 2018, he has been engaged in research on three-dimensional display system at NHK Science & Technology Research Laboratories.
