Season 3 of the Illinois Spring Turkey season was a success for me in the blind. A 2 day sit on some beautiful private property of a friend of mine resulted in a solid bird. I'm certainly not an experienced turkey hunter, or a turkey caller (you'll hear that in the video, haha), but I was good enough on this morning to call down a Tom and put him down. This was my first solo turkey and felt good to put it all together.
My limited time turkey hunting is starting to build some steam in my mind. It's certainly not near my love for the uplands but I love this time of year and the solitude of hunting these big birds on clear cool mornings. Being a wing shooter, my patience is not where it needs to be and you'll see that by me taking the bird as soon as I could. No point is risking on missing the opportunity, bring down the hammer!
I can't thank my fried Mike enough for inviting me to this spectacular property in Northern Illinois, it's truly a treasure. Landowners Ken and Beverly have something special and their entire family has a private haven.
