April 3, 2018, we were at the Mitino cemetery, where relatives are buried. We tidied up the burial site after the winter.

This Moscow cemetery is where firefighters and employees of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant who were injured while extinguishing the reactor were buried. Every year in April, they hold a Memorial Day.

Svetlana Alexievich's book "Chernobyl Prayer".
The Chernobyl disaster took the lives of Lyudmila's husband and daughter.

Vasily Ignatenko (Lyudmila's husband) extinguished the fire at the nuclear power plant on the night of April 25-26, 1986. Lyudmila was pregnant at the time. Vasily worked at the fire without a tarpaulin suit, in just a shirt, and received a lethal dose of radiation.
On the morning of April 26, the man was being rescued at a local hospital, then transported to Moscow. To get into her husband's ward, Lyudmila lied to the nurses, saying that they already had children and that she was not pregnant.
Vasily Ignatenko died on May 13, he was buried at the Mitino Cemetery in Moscow. The girl that Lyudmila gave birth to also died: she had cirrhosis of the liver and a congenital heart defect:
“I always come to them with two bouquets: one for him, the second one I put in the corner for her,” she said in “Chernobyl Prayer.” “I crawl on my knees by the grave… Always on my knees… (Incoherently). I killed her… I… She… Saved… My girl saved me, she took the entire radio attack on herself, became like a receiver of this attack. So small. A tiny thing. (Gasping) She saved... But I loved them both... Is it possible... Is it possible to kill with love? Such love..."
