Plastic Pollution, Our Oceans, Our Future
Cleaning beaches is one of the many projects that HWF is engaged in to better protect our native wildlife through research, education and conservation activities. We also advocate for legislation that would better protect native species and coastal habitat, like the initiatives to ban polystyrene foam and other single-use plastics on Hawai‘i Island and Maui (and eventually statewide!)
This video was a joint creation by the University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB) crew at Douglas McCauley's lab in concert with youth from Waimea (Kohala) and some footage in Ka‘ū with our HWF team ... if this is shared please give credit to UCSB / McCauley Lab + County of Hawai‘i / past Councilwoman Margaret Wille and Hawai‘i Wildlife Fund :)
