Mark, Stephan, Yuval, and Eric gathered to discuss another level of decomposition of PI Planning. We started this week focused on exploring the nature of contextualization, that is the gap between PI Planning per SAFe documentation and PI Planning as it is practiced in the world and how to decide if those gaps are good.
We then spent the better part of an hour exploring the implications, value, and risks inherent in story decomposition, detailed planning, and how you can end up with overly brittle plans if you don't find the right balance. We closed with a discussion of the relative safety for teams in the different potential mechanisms for making space for changes to arise during the PI.
