This is the first original song he ever wrote, performed at Cornell University during a student event, "Summer College Idol". Taking first place--even though the second place girl was a much better singer than Alex--Alex won an mp3 player that his brother Mat eventually lost.

Lyrics:
Every morning I wake up at 8. Go down to breakfast and grab something to masticate. Then up that huge hill, just the thought, makes me twitch. I like to call it, "Mt. Super Bitch". Then there I am, up in Sibley Hall, for a three hour lecture that could be interesting...or boring as hell. Then in studio, all the way until our night checks, working on a project that doesn't even make sense.
Because I take architecture, though I don't know why. Tons of work can amount to nothing, and that makes me sigh. In the studio with no air conditioning when the day's a scorcher, it's no wonder so many call it "Architorture". Yes taking architecture is a pain in the ass. Working long hours every day after class. You say "at least you don't write essays..." we say "screw you! you don't know how painful it is to make 10 f---ing cubes!"
But what we're learning really fills us with fascination, like the other day when we learned about spatial penetration. And now we're learning to 'read' photos and you may think we're koo-koo. But if you tell us so we'll just laugh at you. Woo hoo! hoo hoo! haa....
Because we take architecture, though it doesn't make sense. Like Noxema pads to dung beetles, there's little relevance. And I can't imagine taking this, for more than a quarter, it's no wonder so many call it "Architorture." Guitar solo. And we're told to forget all of our high school learnings. Older methods are better like from the time of witch burnings. Like "Make your sketch abstract, but make it clear what you're depicting." Uhh...isn't that a little contradicting?
Architects are known to act like they have mental problems. Talking to themselves, kind of like Gollum. "They have stolen our precious glue, and we must get it back." Yeah...we sound like we're on crack. But we know with all this uncertainty our ideas are out of luck. Sometimes I just want to scream out "WHAT THE heck?"
But I know one day I will look back and know that it was all worth it but...no. Because taking architecture really leaves us frustrated, but hey even the graduates' brains are still constipated, and with all this uncertainty I can't help but wonder, if this is the best school in the country for it...well I'm so scared of the others.
Taking architecture leaves me so empty handed, like liquid soap I don't think I will ever understand it and with all this uncertainty I can't help but wonder...If this is the best school in the country for it, well I'm so scared of the others!
