Surrender, survive...
The Germans have used a very effective form of ideological warfare in WWII by airdropping propaganda leaflets on their enemy lines, which were designed to diminish soldier morale by making them believe that there's no way out. As we can see from Dunkirk (2017) opening scene, for example, the poster says "We surround you, surrender, survive". This is a very similar situation we're living in now, it feels like the Virus is all around us, and it makes us very scared.
However, there's no need to airdrop anything anymore, since we have Internet and social networks, messages can be put across easily to the minds of people. Just like in the movie, most of us don't even see the enemy, it's enought to get that feeling of imminent threat from the media channels.
The main plot twist here, and what makes it so unique and effective, is that unlike ever before our decisions to give up and surrender are driven not by fear for our own lives, but by the feeling of guilt for putting other lives at risk! Back in the days, you might have succumb to fear and given in, but you peers would most certainly call you a traitor or coward, or both, so you would be at the crossroads.
But now, it's quite the opposite, if you decided not to conform with the agenda, you friends and colleagues, and random people on the street, would shame you for doing so, and may even report you to the authorities. A very similar situation if you would hide a Jew, in pre-war Germany, or say smth about Stalin in post-war USSR, snitches are everywhere!
However, as in any good movie, there will always be a legion of heroic soldiers who will stand to the last for their freedom. And who knows, maybe one day some allied supports will come from where nobody expected, and the evilforces will be overpowered.... ;)
