Genius started out as a hip-hop-focused site founded by 3 college kids at Yale University back in 2009. Not many people know this but it was part of Y Combinator (Summer 2011 batch) and it was YC's fastest growing startup at the time 🤯.
Genius was later acquired by MediaLab in 2011 for $80M. It's now an American media powerhouse.
One of Genius' controversial founders Mahbod Moghadam recently just passed away. May he rest in peace ❤️
