1️⃣ Install Via Steam Workshop
The easiest way to install GMA addons is through the Steam Workshop. Subscribe to addons directly on the Workshop page, and Steam will automatically download and install GMA files into the correct Garry's Mod addons directory without requiring manual file management or extraction.
2️⃣ Extract With GMad Tool
To manually install or inspect a GMA file, use Valve's GMad command-line extraction tool included with Garry's Mod. Run gmad.exe extract -file yourfile.gma -out outputfolder in Command Prompt. This extracts all addon contents to a folder that can be placed in the GMod addons directory.
3️⃣ Use GMA Extractor GUI Tool
For a user-friendly extraction experience, use GMAD Easy Extractor, a graphical frontend for Valve's GMad tool. Simply drag and drop the GMA file onto the application to extract its contents to a selected output folder. The extracted addon folder can then be placed in GMod's addons directory.
