2013 Arisaig Highland Games
Arisaig was the third games on the Mike and Beau tour of Scotland 2013. Quite beautiful scenery and the charm of a traditional highland games with booths, light events, dancing, piping, and the heavy events. The crowd was close and engaged providing lots of support and cheers.
Beau was the defending champ having won Arisaig in 2012. Alas, the Wentas spoiled his shot at a repeat with Sebass winning the overall.
Sebass also broke the field record with the unique 28 pound lwfd. It has to be two feet long with a double chain and a ring so small we could only use a 3-finger grip. He broke Larry Brocks old record of 93+ buy going 95+. I tried a wild and crazy technique because they were not using a back line. If I had accounted for a little more space, I think I could have thrown the weight close to 100 feet. Alas, I foot fouled the first attempt with the Cobra Kai Super Copter technique, which landed somewhere in the mid to high 80's based on other marks. And, totally crashed over the trig on the last attempt. Haha It was quite fun.
Perhaps the best part of Arisaig was throwing with Tommy MacEchean. This was his 60th consecutive time to compete at the Arisaig games. Wow.
