The Canon 5D mark II is a permanently good camera. It's an excellent representation of the Canon EOS EF system.
No matter if you're a beginner or enthusiast, it's a great choice. They're rated for 150,000 shutter actuations. It's still easy to find cameras under 50,000 for less than $300.
Used EF lenses are an incredible bargain right now. There are options to make kits that will come in under $500. My recommendation would be the 50mm f1.8 STM.
