Review of Ford Transit 470 – Eurovan, low-floor modification

Our customer is 1001 Shina, a tire store for trucks and special equipment (St. Petersburg) https://www.1001shina.ru/ . We built an unusual European-style van for them.
The base chassis is a standard Ford Transit 470. Excellent value for money. Gross vehicle weight is 4.7 tons. After modifications, it can reach 3.5 tons. Category B, load capacity up to 1 ton. Entry into central Moscow requires no permit. Rear-wheel drive combined with dual rear tires provides a real load capacity of 1.5-2 tons.
This European-style van is made of 20 mm thick sandwich panels. The exterior paneling is clad in clad steel, and the frame is anodized aluminum corner. The van's rear frame and door fittings are galvanized steel. The rear door trim is reinforced plastic. The van's exterior dimensions are 4.4 x 2.2 x 2.2 m. The exterior volume is 21.3 cubic meters. The overall length of the vehicle is 6.95 m. The maximum overall height is 3.05 m.
By reducing the subframe thickness, we achieved a loading height of 0.85 m. Special arches had to be installed, resulting in an uneven floor inside the van. This reduced the van's capacity from 8 to 6 Euro pallets.
A 1.3 m wide side door with a recessed galvanized handle was manufactured.
A dual-circuit rear air suspension and an aerodynamic fairing were installed.
