A lot of the girls were going to nursing school so I decided that would be a good route. I liked working with the patients at the nursing home so that's what got me going into the LPN program 20 years ago."

"My husband actually found The College Network®. I had talked about going back to school, so he did the research and found the number for me. After going to a traditional nursing school for my LPN program, I knew I didn't want to take that route again. I wanted to do the program as quickly as possible so I chose to do an online program. I could just study as quickly as I could."

"The modules were very concise. There weren't a lot of textbooks that you had to go through. I found them very comparable to the tests that I had to take. The information was very easy to understand. Then, of course, if there was something that was confusing I called Academic Support which was very helpful. I didn't have to do that very often because I found that most of the information in the module was very easily understood and easily explained."

"You have to be very self-motivated. You really have to want it. You have to stick with it. I found that I had to do it almost every day. If a couple days would go by, I'd kind of get out of the swing of it. Every day after work I would study. I guess I was just so motivated to get my RN and so excited about it that I didn't have a lot of trouble keeping myself motivated and going. It's not good to be a procrastinator with this. I wanted it so bad and wanted to get through it so quickly that that just motivated me. Getting one more test done is what motivated me. Seeing the progress you can make when you stick with it."

"The first test was very difficult. I didn't know what to expect. I hadn't taken a test for 20 years. It was nerve-wracking being in the testing center with the proctor, but once I got through it that gave me some self-confidence. As I took the tests, I kind of got a feel for what they were looking for in the tests. After a while, as I went through the modules, I could almost pick out what I thought would be on the tests. You kind of get a feel for them the more you take, and they definitely get easier as you go."

"When choosing to be an RN, a big motivating factor was money. I've got a daughter that just started college this fall, so that's another expense for me. Money was a huge factor for me."
