To select every other edge in 3ds Max, go into Edge sub-object mode within an Editable Poly or an Edit Poly modifier. First, select the edge loop you want to work with. Then, open the Modeling ribbon at the top of the interface, and under the Selection tab, find the “Select Every Nth” tool. In the dialog that appears, set the Nth value to 2, which tells 3ds Max to select every second edge in your current selection. Finally, click Apply, and every other edge in the loop will be selected automatically.
