What is a FOSSA?
Claws, eyes, and sharp teeth resemble those of a cat. But the elongated neck and snout are more similar to a dog. The gait is like a bear's, but the shape of the ears is completely mouse-like. And females have pseudo-male organs, like hyenas. Fossa is the top predator of the Madagascar. Weighing up to ten kilograms and with a body length of up to 1.8 meters, half of which is a long tail. Fossas are extremely good climbers, which helps them hunt their main prey - lemurs, the largest of which can weigh as much as 90 percent of the weight of the average fossa. Fossas are solitary animals, and are only seen in pairs during the breeding season. They are cathemeral. That means that they are active both during the day and at night. Their lifespan can reach up to 20 years.
