Off-Roading A Stick-Shift Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro
Toyota still offers the 2022 Tacoma with a stick shift and clutch pedal, which transforms this utilitarian truck into a much more engaging, almost fun-to-drive pickup. Watch as HotCars contributor Michael Van Runkle takes a manual Tacoma out to Rowher Flats in Southern California to test the TRD Pro's upgraded suspension, tires, and skid plates.
The manual transmission also helps the Tacoma's 3.5-liter V6 put down all 278 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque much better, with short lower gear ratios that make crawling in 4-Low all the more possible. Now, if only Toyota still sold the 4Runner with a stick shift!
