Hailing from our home state of Nevada comes the legendary, award winning, deliciously blended, grab-your-man tits amazing Smoke Wagon Straight Bourbon. Becoming the first distillery in the city of Las Vegas was no easy feat, but two dudes Aaron and Jonathan made it happen. Yes we know that they sound like a DIY house flipping duo, but sadly there is no diva sledge hammering here! They mainly just mix delicious whiskies, sip said whiskies, and stand in the corner silently staring and sipping their whiskey at their bar the Griffin. They also video themselves dropping barrels from high places. Not sure if any of you have ever seen a whiskey barrel fall over 20 feet, but with some added special effects and Jonathan's action movie screen writing commentary; it's undeniably better than the alien space ship explosion scene from the 1996 block buster hit "Independence Day".
The theme of their bottles goes back to the 19th century where whiskey bottles were usually amber in color. They also have a wax stamp embedded with two crossed "smoke wagons" (1873 colt single action army revolver) over an outline of the state of Nevada. The flavors are a beautiful blend with a kick. These are high rye bourbon blends and at a higher proof than your usual over the counter hooch. They like to take the old and new and marry the two together to create different higher proofed less cut flavor profiles. Think Catherine Zeta-Jones meets Michael Douglas (Not sure how either of them would fare as a whiskey though).
Anyhow, they came out with an old fashioned kit with a torch and some goodies to make the perfect cocktail. Of course we take any opportunity to play with butane tanks seriously, because we are 12 year old boys obsessed with science trapped in the bodies of 30 something year old women and damn it! Sometimes a little cocktail brulee just makes life better.
Enjoy.
