Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to TinyBlueGames! My name is Csaw and today we are talking about ArcheAge (AA) Unchained. In particular, we will be talking about my first impressions of the game as someone who has never played before.
I never got around to playing the original ArcheAge. I’m not sure why, I did hear through reddit and YouTube that the game was a breath of fresh air and definitely worth trying at release. I think at the time I was content playing my current MMO (probably Guild Wars 2) with my friends and just let the AA launch pass me by. So I’ve really got no past experience with the game. This is both a good thing and a bad thing as I can look at the game with no preconceived notions, but at the same time I don’t really know what kind of improvements I should be looking for in the new version. All I can do is give my opinions on the gameplay experience as it currently is.
Ultimately, this could just be another attempt to capture the profits that came with the hype of the original release. However, given how Gamigo has directly addressed the past p2w issue, it does seem like things will be different. I mean from a developer standpoint it makes sense to have the game be as populated for as long as possible. If Trion could go back a change things to have never gone down this p2w road I’m sure they would. In the end only time will tell.
