Crypto Exchange FTX and its founder Sam Bankman-Fried has been embroiled in controversy since the exchange collapsed and billions of customer funds went missing in November 2022. Since FTX's collapse, SBF has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies, and his inner circle of one-time confidants have slowly turned into government informants and material witnesses in Federal prosecutors case against SBF. Nishad Sign, FTX's former Engineering Director, is one of the latest friends to turn on SBF in hopes of leniency in the governments investigation into FTX's downfall.

On January 10, 2023, Nishad Singh attended a proffer session and held talks with prosecutors from the Southern District of New York Attorney's office. However, proffer sessions do not imply an automatic plea deal. Following Singh's testimony, prosecutors will decide if the shared information is valuable enough to get the former FTX executive a plea deal.
Singh is the third member of SBF's inner circle to meet with prosecutors in the aftermath of FTX’s collapse. FTX co-founder Gary Wang and the former Alameda Research chief executive Caroline Ellison have both sought plea deals and pled guilty to charges in December 2022. Ellison, who is also SBF's former lover, admitted to hiding records of billion dollar loans made by Alameda to FTX executives.
