IMPART Research Reels - Dr. Christie Aguiar (The IMPART BioBank)
The Research Reels webinar series is a new IMPART Team initiative where we will be hosting monthly webinars by IMPART investigators and trainees on ongoing or completed research within the network. The objectives of this webinar series are to improve networking among IMPART team members, enhance opportunities for future collaborations, and support knowledge translation of research findings.
The speaker for this webinar is Dr. Christie Aguiar, a Biobank Manager at Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick. She manages the IMPART biobank, which stores human heart samples from patient participants enrolled in clinical studies at the New Brunswick Heart Centre. Her role involves organizing and supervising all aspects of biobanking and sample processing. She also manages patient databases of biobanked samples, and liaises with biobank collaborators. Dr. Aguiar has worked as a research coordinator with the New Brunswick Heart Centre after which she joined Dal Med NB as a Biobank Manager. She has a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, a Masters of science and a PhD in veterinary biomedicine.
