The expedition to the Black Rider Cave was purely scientific and sporting in nature. The group members respected the fact that this cave was and is still an object of worship for people living in the Unal settlement and in the village of Biz. Before the ascent, we visited Tamerlan Margiev Barisovich, the head of the Unal rural settlement of the Alagir district, which includes 10 settlements, including the village of Biz. We asked him how the locals would react to the fact that we were planning to visit the cave, to which we received a positive answer and were treated to tea and sweets.
According to historical facts, we know that this cave was also a place of worship for robbers and thieves.
Tamerlan told us quite a few legends, and some stories were told to us by local residents, who warmly and hospitably received us. All the times when we went out to shoot material, we left our cars in the yard of Tamerlan Margiev and Dudiev Artur Temirbulatovich, after returning from Mount Urus-Khokh, Tamerlan generously treated us to dinner.
His house with a lake in which trout are found is located directly parallel to the cave by the road.
Since this territory belongs to the reserve, we also turned to Konstantin Pavlovich Popov, who was delighted with the offer to enter the cave and asked for cave data, dimensions, vegetation, stones, photos and video footage, etc. This is required in order to make a passport for the Black Rider Cave, which they have been trying to do since 2008. The group members did not desecrate the cave itself and even one of us committed an act of individual worship there, which I resisted. The expedition was very difficult, dangerous and technically complex from the point of view of mountaineering, but we did it!
Now all that remains is for you to watch and evaluate the film.
