In this ICP NNS staking tutorial, I show you how to stake Internet Computer Protocol in the Network Nervous System, create a new ICP neuron, choose a dissolve delay, understand staking rewards, set up voting, follow a known neuron, and avoid missing rewards.

This tutorial is focused on ICP staking in the NNS, not SNS tokens. I walk through the difference between short-term staking for liquidity and longer dissolve delays for higher rewards, including why the main options I think about are 2 weeks for flexibility or 2 years for maximum rewards under the current setup.

I also explain how maturity, auto-locking rewards, spawning maturity, compounding, age bonus, dissolve delay, and maturity modulation work in the NNS. If you are staking ICP, you need to understand that creating a neuron is final once confirmed, the lock period can only be increased, and maturity rewards can take time to appear.

Most importantly, I show why you need to actually vote on NNS proposals or follow a neuron that votes for you in order to earn staking rewards. I walk through the new NNS interface, how to manage known neurons, how automatic voting works, and why following a neuron can help make sure you do not miss rewards.

If you want help setting up ICP staking, neurons, voting, or NNS rewards, you can book a call with me at JerryBanfield.com and we can walk through it together on Zoom.

This is not financial advice. I own ICP and share my own experience using the NNS.
