The LOST Subcontrols in Avatar
Healing Fire, Glassbending, Mineralbending, Chaosbending? What happened to all these sub-bending techniques we saw in different places but were never fully explained? In this video, we're going to explore the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender, Avatar: The Legend of Korra, and also their comics and novels (Avatar Chronicles: Rise of Kyoshi, Shadow of Kyoshi) to see what could be future sub-bending techniques, or variations of the bending techniques that our beloved characters have used throughout the series but were never officially explained as canon in the sub-bending chart. In The Legend of Korra, we saw a type of healing fire created by the Fire Sages. More than a cure, it was a "spiritual reading" that allowed Korra to contact Avatar Wan, who told her the story of Raava and Vaatu and how the Avatar was created.
On the other hand, Bumi, Toph, and Aang have used mineralbending in many episodes of Book One: Earth and Book One: Water of the Avatar: The Last Airbender series.
In addition to these two sub-bending techniques, we'll talk about sandbending, which was used in the episodes where Appa is kidnapped in the desert by the sand miners. Similar techniques were also used many times throughout the series, such as by Bumi when he tried to sink Aang, or by Colonel Fong (if I'm not mistaken), who completely buried Katara to allow the Avatar State to emerge.
We'll also discuss possible new elements like chaosbending and peacebending. While I don't believe these are entirely new elements, they are very likely related to the spiritual understanding and mastery of the benders. Without much more to add, I hope you enjoy this video.
