The first and the most obvious tip, is to give your dog plenty of exercise at night. You probably heard that tired puppy is good puppy. So make sure, to make your walk little bit longer at the evening and definitely make sure that your puppy peed and pooped on this walk.
Keep your dog calm is the next tip. You should not arouse your dog before you want to go sleep. Your puppy will quickly get it, that its time to go to sleep and not to play. Its also important, that your puppy have comfortable spot. It can be comfy bed or some blankets on the floor.
The most important tip is this. Dont let your dog to wake you up. It should be you who is awake first. First few days observe, how long can your puppy sleep. If its 4 hours, set up alarm at 3 and half hour and wake up your dog. Slowly, but constantly prolonge this distance. I prolong it for 15 minutes every 3 days and today i can sleep with my dog for 8 hours straight.
It works so good, because the dog will get the habit, that he is going out, when you want. He will naturally sleep for longer time and waits for you, because he will know, that you will walk him out. The last two tips i have for you is, that your dog should have access to some chewing toys at night. Chewing is calming activity for dogs, so it helps them relax and sleep. Its also important, that his sleep spot is close to you, your dog will feel safe and without stress.
