Burhan Kılıçkını, 77, who drew attention with his polite tone when ordering Vefa Social Support Group staff who recently visited his home in Ordu, said, “Elderly people should stay home.” All our needs are being met, what more could we ask for?” he said.
Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19), which is rapidly spreading globally and has been detected in thousands of people in Türkiye, citizens aged 65 and over are prohibited from going out. The needs of citizens in this age group are being met by the Vefa Social Support Group staff. Burhan Kılıçkını, a 77-year-old resident of Ordu, attracted attention with his polite demeanor when he ordered Altınordu Municipality municipal police officers who came to his door to meet his needs. The moment garnered considerable attention on social media, and Kılıçkını expressed his satisfaction with the measures and thanked the officers.
“The curfew is a good measure for people like us.”
Burhan Kılıçkını, a resident of the Taşbaşı neighborhood of Altınordu district, emphasized that people aged 65 and over should stay out of the streets for their health. He said, “The officers on duty are very attentive, they don't hesitate to give their phone numbers and say they'll come if you need anything. I ran out of medicine, and they came right away when I called.” They bring me fruits and vegetables whenever I need them, which is wonderful. We don't have any problems, and the curfew is a great measure for elderly people like us. They can rest at home; the air inside is better than the exhaust fumes from vehicles outside," he said.
"Everyone's needs are met, what more could they ask for?"
"Elderly people should stay home; there's no need to go to the market, and they shouldn't get tired," Kılıçkını said. "Everyone's needs are met, what more could they ask for? Our needs are met, and we have no problems with that. When I'm hungry in the evening, I eat pastries, biscuits, and fruit. Eating them gives me a little satisfaction."
