Boost Your Productivity: How to Create a Waterfall Chart 📊
A waterfall chart displays a running total as values are added or subtracted. It's very useful for understanding how a total value is affected by a series of positive and negative values.
Waterfall charts are useful for showing the degree of increase or decrease in an indicator, showing positive or negative changes, and illustrating upward or downward effects.
🆕 It's a feature added to Excel starting with the 2016 edition 📊.
The columns have different colors so you can quickly differentiate positive from negative numbers. The starting and ending value columns usually begin on the horizontal axis, while the intermediate values are floating columns.
Waterfall charts always have two types of values:
▶️ Total columns: These provide a total, ending, or running value, starting from the horizontal axis.
▶️ Floating columns: These begin at the end of the previous bar and give the impression of being suspended in the air, adding or subtracting values from the accumulated amount.
