CYSA's "Diversion Works"
Some of the best work we do blends diversion and youth development together. That's what makes YSBs so unique. It's not about a one size fits all system, but working with youth to figure out their path to success. It's about focusing on their strengths, building honest relationships, and staying with them well past their contracts are completed. That's when we do our best work because that's when we do the work of building community.
We're really proud of this video and the story it tells and we're even more proud of Kyle for stepping up and telling it. We don't always get a chance to talk about our individual successes through the JRB because they deal with matters of juvenile arrests but these stories are important ones for Middletown to hear. We're also really thankful to all our volunteers both past and present who have helped create a culture in our process that has made us model for the entire state. Some really important work is happening in Middletown and it's about to expand to include referrals from a number of different sources, beyond just police and courts. Stay tuned...
