Membracidae 2 treehopper thorn bug 20 27mn ants & comunication
Sap feeding insect moulting (2mm to24) with disproportionated pronotum (helmet), odly shaped. they attract ants with their honeydew (like the aphids, they milk them regularly) giving them thus house-cleaning & protection.
They communicate by vibrations songs transmittend through the stem of their host plants.
They look pretty much defenseless but they were here already 40 millions years ago, although they live only a few months, they are still here.
Mothers protect their youngs by buzzing their wings & hitting their legs against intruders. Known : 3200 species
I found them very cute & very original, some look like they have an anemometer or helicopter's blades as helmet.
