Knowing things like your state of charge when you’re charging is something I took for granted with my old Nissan LEAF, so I struggled with my Kia e-Niro First Edition a bit in this respect. Along comes OVMS: a small black box that plugs into my e-Niro (and many other cars) and, using the free app, gives me loads of stats like state of charge, whether a charge has failed, 12V battery charge and much more.
This is the guide to installing, setting up, fitting and using the app. I’ve split it into parts so feel free to skip my waffle and get to the bits you want by clicking the chapters below.
