There is an opinion that one of the varieties of panicle hydrangea Polestar does not need formative pruning.
In my opinion, this is a misconception. The panicle hydrangea variety Polestar is derived from another panicle hydrangea variety Daruma, which requires constant formative pruning, according to all the canons and traditions of pruning this type of shrub. In this regard, I can assume with a high degree of confidence that Polestar also requires annual formative pruning.
I offer you a practical experiment on pruning this variety and draw a conclusion at the end of the season.
